Despite its natural beauty, the western peninsular area of Kalpitiya in the Puttalam district of Sri Lanka is remarkably untouched by tourism. North of Chilaw (and about 8km before reaching the town of Puttalam), a side road branches off west, threading its way across the beautiful, windswept Kalpitiya peninsula, fringed with unspoilt beaches and bounded on opposite sides by sea and lagoon.

In the morning drive to Kalpitiya via St. Annes memorial and pilgrimage site. Visit the old town market and fishing harbour of Kalpitiya. Overnight near Kalpitiya.
Jaffna Fort is a fort built by the Portuguese at Jaffna, Sri Lanka in 1618 under Phillippe de Oliveira following the Portuguese invasion of Jaffna. The fort is located near Karaiyur. Due to numerous miracles attributed to the statue of Virgin Mary in the church nearby, the fort was named as Fortress of Our Lady of Miracles of Jafanapatao.It was captured by the Dutch under Rijckl of van Goens in 1658 who expanded it. In 1795, it was taken over by the British, and remained under the control of a British garrison till 1948. As the only large military fort in the country, due to the presence of only government and military buildings within its ramparts, it was garrisoned by a detachment of the Ceylon Army.
Boat trip to the island of Nainativu and visit the colourful Hindu temple Naga Pooshani Ambal Kovil and the nearby Buddhist temple Nagadipa Vihara.
Naga Pooshani Ambal Kovil is situated on a small 10 km long islet which was once a sea port frequented by ships. An inscription from a twelfth century stone discovered on the site testifies to this fact. The annual festival is held in June/July while by the seashore is a ghat (flight of steps) which is used by the many thousands who attend the festivities.
After that drive through the Kayts and take ferry boat to Hammenhiel Fort. Continue to Casuarina beach. Visit Buddhist Dambakola Patuna Sangamiththa (the place where Theri Sangamiththa landed with the Bo Sapling) and the Keerimalai holy springs. Overnight in Jaffna.
Visit to Point Pedro via the bottomless well at Nilavarai and visit the Vishnu temple in Vallipuram. In the afternoon visit the historic site of Kantharodai and the Archeological Museum in Jaffna. Overnight in Jaffna.
Located in the area of Putur, the Nilavarai well is an ancient waterhole featured in many local legends. Some locals and Hindu devotees say that the well was created by Lord Rama while returning to India with his wife Sita. Another version of the legend says that the well was created by Hanuman for Lord Rama to quench his thirst during his battle against Ravana. Nilavarai well called as bottomless well. The well is easy as to reach via Jaffna-PointPedro road and then left turn to get Puttur Road.The Bottomless well Nilaveri is geometrically square shaped. Leave Jaffna via Elephant Pass and drive along the spectacularly beautiful eastern coast road. Visit the war museum and memorial in Puthukkudiyiruppu.Continue south over Vadduvakal Bridge along the coastal road. Stop at Girigandu Seya, the first pagoda in the world and a place Lord Buddha himself visited. Overnight near Trincomalee.
Excursion to Trincomalee. Visit Fort Frederick and the Koneswaram Temple. Continue around the harbour and drive to the Kanniyai Hot Wells. Return to Trincomalee and discover the town. In the afternoon relax at the hotel, on the beach or snorkel at Pigeon Island. Overnight near Trincomalee.
Koneswaram temple of Trincomalee or Thirukonamalai Konesar Temple – The Temple of the Thousand Pillars and Dakshina-Then Kailasam is a classical-medieval Hindu Temple complex in Trincomalee, a Hindu religious pilgrimage centre in Eastern Province, Sri Lanka. It called as Thirukoneswaram, or the Holy Koneswaram Temple, it is a Hindu temple in Trincomalee. The temple lies on a high rocky promontory surrounded on three sides by the sea. It bears a history of over three millennia with its records indicating its roots in 1580 BC. This, still beautiful, historical monument is what remains of what once was a sprawling temple city equal to the ancient city of Madurai, India.
Kanniya Hot Springs is famous hot well in Sri Lanka from the past. There are 7 hot springs now converted to bathing wells. Wells are only 3–4 feet deep and you can clearly see the bottom.The temperature of each is slightly different from each other. It is also believed the water from the wells have therapeutic healing powers and can cure many aliments.
Kalkudah or Kalkuda is a coastal resort town located about 35 kilometers northwest of Batticaloa, Batticaloa District, Sri Lanka.
If it is natural beauty that you look for in your beaches then Kalkudah beach is for you. It has dazzling, never ending soft sands. The beach was wide and went on and on as far as we could see. But not only was it beautiful, there was also hardly anybody there.
On many visits to Kalkudah beach, we were almost the only people there. Aside from a group of local fishermen pushing their boats out to sea and a small heard of cows that regularly patrol the beach. It is hard to believe that pre-tsunami, Kalkudah beach was lined with tourist accommodation.

Remember that boat rides become more exciting because of the lagoons in Batticaloa. Within these lagoons, there are a few tiny islands that are perfect for bird watching and camping.
Knuckles range also called Dumbara mountain range is located off Kandy, in the northern end of Central Highlands of Sri Lanka. To the south and east of the mountain range is Mahaweli river basin while to the west are Matale plains. The Knuckles range is one of the loveliest nature attractions of Sri Lanka. Knuckles mountain range, a World heritage Conservation Area that affords intriguing trekking possibilities, is still to a greater extent untouched zone of significant natural beauty and biodiversity. The serious trekkers and biodiversity enthusiasts would even take up a three day hike of 40 plus km trek with a guide.
Discover Kandy. In the morning visit the Botanical Gardens, Kandy city and the old market. In the early evening enjoy Kandyian Dance performance followed by a visit to the famous Tooth Relic Temple. Overnight in Kandy.
The golden-roofed Temple of the Sacred Tooth houses Sri Lankas most important Buddhist relic a tooth of the Buddha. During puja, the heavily guarded room housing the tooth is open to devotees and tourists. However, you do not actually see the tooth. It is kept in a gold casket shaped like a dagoba (stupa), which contains a series of six dagoba caskets of diminishing size. As well as the revered main temple, the complex includes a series of smaller temples, shrines and museums.
